Grandpa Moose

I grew up next door to my grandparents. How cool is that? Grandpa Moose was the most patient, good-sportin’, fun-loving Grandpa a grandson could ask for. I knew him as a cop and although he was my step-grandfather, I never knew him as anything but my “Grandpa Moose.” He was the only man my father ever considered “Dad.” He spent timeless hours fishing and crabbing with me every summer at their house in Forked River, NJ. He taught me how to drive a boat and take a joke! My grandparents had such fun together and we all enjoyed the love they shared for one another. One of the things I looked forward to most were Christmases with Grandma and Grandpa. When we moved to NC, they continued to travel and stay one or two weeks with us around Christmas. We had the opportunity to spend so many birthdays and holidays with them. Not a day goes by that I’m not humbled and thankful to have experienced so much of my grandparents. Grandpa Moose was one of the best. I only wish my kids could have known him better. I’m so grateful to my Uncle Rich and my Aunt Jennifer for the unconditional support and sacrifices they’ve made for the past five years to provide as much comfort and care for Grandma and Grandpa. I’ve seen few better demonstrations of love. Thank you. We love you, Grandpa Moose!
